Ayano Kunimitsu

Okay, a doctor who trained at Nagasaki University, then went into the bureaucracy, then jumped into politics? That's a career path that makes me sit up a little. I love when someone has actually stood in a clinic seeing real patients before they start talking about policy, because you can't fake that kind of ground-level knowledge. Born in 1979 in Yamaguchi, she has been in the House of Representatives since 2017 and became deputy foreign minister in 2025. I'm always a bit reassured by people who come to government with a practical track record behind them rather than pure ambition. My read is she's less the loud type and more the kind who turns hard-won real-world experience into things that actually function. Honestly, I'd take that over flash any day.
