My Take

Amunike belongs to a Nigerian generation I still get genuinely excited talking about. As a winger he was electric, central to the Super Eagles side that announced African football to the world in the mid-90s and to the Olympic team that stunned everyone in Atlanta. What earns my deeper respect, though, is the second act: rather than fading after retirement, he went into coaching and guided a young Nigerian side to a world title, proving he could transmit a winner's instinct to the next generation. For me he's a reminder that the best players don't always make great coaches, but the rare ones who do are worth celebrating.
