My Take
I've always had a soft spot for Mitakeumi, and a lot of it comes down to where he's from. Born in the Philippines and raised in Agematsu in Nagano's Kiso valley, he climbed all the way to ōzeki and won three top-division titles, which just makes me want to cheer for him. He's not a flashy technician, he's a get-low, drive-you-out-of-the-ring grinder, and watching him bull forward is honestly satisfying. He has since fallen back to the jūryō division, but that stubborn, dig-in-at-the-edge resilience is exactly my kind of wrestler. A hometown hero quietly carrying Nagano on his back.
