Eri Otoguro

Two credits define her in most databases: the tokusatsu series Chouseishin Gransazer and the cult splatter comedy Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl. That is a strange pairing on paper, but both belong to corners of Japanese film and television that travel unusually well overseas — the kind of titles foreign fans find first and remember longest. Born in Bangkok, later a student at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, she is of Thai, British and Japanese descent, grew up in Yokohama, and studied psychology at university. What stays at the center, though, is simply the work. If you want the living version of her rather than the archived one, her Instagram is the place to look; the filmography will tell you what she made, but not what she is doing now.
