My Take
Bogosian fascinates me because he refuses to be one thing. Actor, monologuist, novelist, historian, playwright, he wears every hat and somehow wears them all well. What strikes me most is the solo-performance courage at his core, standing alone on a stage and holding a room with nothing but voice and intellect. That Talk Radio reached Pulitzer finalist territory and that he earned a Guggenheim Fellowship tells me his anger always has architecture underneath it. I admire artists who carry an entire world by themselves, and his Armenian-American roots seem to feed a restlessness I find compelling. He is a writer's actor and an actor's writer.
