My Take
What I admire about Eric Johnson is his range as a dependable character actor rather than a marquee name. From Whitney on Smallville to the title role in Flash Gordon, a steady detective on Rookie Blue, and a genuinely loathsome villain in the Fifty Shades films, he keeps reinventing his register without ever showboating. The fact that he also writes screenplays tells me he understands stories from the inside, not just performance. These are exactly the kinds of working actors who quietly outlast the flashier stars, and I find that craftsmanship far more interesting than fame.
