Eve Plumb

Eve Plumb will forever be Jan Brady to most people, but what fascinates me is how she refused to be trapped by that one role. Starting in commercials at seven, she could have burned out as a child star like so many did. Instead she carved out a parallel life as a serious painter, treating her hands as a second instrument of expression. I admire performers who build a quiet identity outside the spotlight that defined them. There is real dignity in a Southern California kid actor maturing into an artist on her own terms, answering to no studio.
