Eve

Eve is one of the great crossover talents of her generation, a rapper who managed to be tough and stylish without ever feeling like a novelty in the male-dominated Ruff Ryders camp. 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind' is a flawless piece of pop-rap craftsmanship, and the fact that she pivoted so smoothly into sitcom lead, film actress, and Emmy-winning talk show host speaks to a versatility most musicians never find. I always rated her for refusing to be boxed in. The paw-print tattoos, the confidence, the effortless reinvention; she carved out a lane that a lot of artists have since tried to follow.
