My Take
Darabont, born in France and raised through Hollywood High, is a craftsman who climbed up from horror screenwriting into something quietly profound. What I value in him is his patience with human hope, told without flash or noise. Three Academy Award nominations confirm the skill, but his real gift is making stories that linger long after the credits. I trust writers who can also direct, because they protect the words that matter. There is an Aquarian independence to his work, stubborn and singular, and I find myself returning to it precisely because it never shouts.
