My Take

Cecere is the sort of working actor I find easy to root for. A UCLA-trained Canadian who has spent a long career filling out films and television, and who stepped behind the camera to direct as well, he represents the dependable character player a production leans on. You may not recall his name, but you have almost certainly felt his presence stiffen a scene, and that flicker of recognition is its own kind of achievement. Reaching toward directing tells me he wants a hand in shaping stories, not just inhabiting them. I respect this grounded, durable craft over fleeting stardom.
