Gavin Friday

Gavin Friday is exactly the sort of artist I'm drawn to, one who refuses every category offered to him. Co-founder of the post-punk band The Virgin Prunes, he sings, composes, acts and paints, moving across forms as if borders simply don't apply. I sense someone who has always chased his own aesthetic rather than commercial safety. People this hard to classify tend to be the freest, and I find that freedom genuinely inspiring. He's one of those quietly uncompromising figures I deeply respect.
