George Salazar

George Salazar earns my attention for originating Michael Mell in Be More Chill and carrying that role from Off-Broadway all the way to Broadway. Building a character from the ground up and shepherding it to the big stage takes serious conviction, and the 2019 Lucille Lortel Award confirms the talent. A University of Florida grad, he strikes me as a thinking actor, not just a belter. Musical theater demands acting, singing, and stamina all at once, and his evident love for that grind is exactly the kind of dedication I find genuinely admirable.
