My Take

Getter Jaani fascinates me as a case study in cultural export. Carrying Estonia at Eurovision 2011 while still a teenager takes nerve, but what really impresses me is the long tail of "Rockefeller Street," a song that found a second life online years later. That kind of delayed virality only happens when the material has genuine kinetic energy baked in. She is more than a one-contest novelty, juggling singing and acting in a country whose music scene punches above its size.
