Gil Ofarim

Gil Ofarim carries the weight of a performing bloodline, and you can feel it. What interests me most is the friction underneath such versatility. People who can do many things often live with a private restlessness about which self is the real one. I tend to believe that tension is exactly what gives an artist's voice its honesty. That said, his 2021 accusation of antisemitism against a Leipzig hotel ended with him confessing in court in 2023 that he had fabricated it and apologizing, and the proceedings were dropped on payment of donations.
