My Take

Giorgos Karagounis is, to me, the heartbeat of Greek football. When I think of Greece's stunning Euro 2004 triumph, his name is right there at the centre of it. A midfielder with real grit, he wore the jersey from 1999 all the way to 2014 and became his country's most-capped player. What I admire is the breadth of his club journey too: Panathinaikos, then Inter Milan, Benfica and Fulham. He carried himself like a leader, and I genuinely believe he embodied that underdog spirit that made Greece's golden generation so unforgettable. A proper icon of his era.
