My Take

What I admire most about Grace Park is her quiet durability. Coming out of Vancouver with a University of British Columbia education, she could have coasted on her striking looks, but instead she built a real career through roles that demanded range, from Sharon in Battlestar Galactica to Officer Kono in Hawaii Five-0. She carved out space for Asian-Canadian women in genre television at a time when that space barely existed. There is a grounded, unshowy intelligence to her presence on screen that I find genuinely reassuring. She is the kind of performer who lasts because she never overplays her hand.
