My Take
Kevin Williamson is one of the most influential horror writers of my lifetime, and I don't say that lightly. With Scream he made an entire genre self-aware, letting characters narrate the very rules they were trapped inside, and that wink at the audience changed how slashers were written forever. Beyond the scares, what I admire is his range, from the teen dread of I Know What You Did Last Summer to the romantic ache of The Vampire Diaries. Hearing that he is writing and directing Scream 7 excites me, because it feels like the architect returning to inspect his own house. I trust his instincts.
