Great Sasuke

Honestly, the moment I heard that this guy ran for the Iwate prefectural assembly — and won — while still wearing his wrestling mask, I lost it. Like, he sat in actual legislative sessions, in an actual government chamber, as a masked luchador, and nobody could legally force him to take it off. That's not a stunt, that's a philosophical statement. Born in Morioka, he spent years building lucha libre-style wrestling in the Tohoku region when it wasn't cool, taking real punishment in real gyms, and somehow that same stubborn dedication carried straight into politics. He even carved out an acting career on top of it all. The mask never came off, the hometown loyalty never wavered, and there's something weirdly moving about a guy who picked an identity at twenty-something and just... never flinched on it, no matter how absurd the context got.
