My Take

Hamish Watson appeals to me precisely because flanker is the position where the unglamorous work happens. Born in Manchester but committed to Scotland, he built his game on diving into the breakdown and winning ball nobody else wants to contest. At 185 cm he is not oversized for the role, which makes his relentlessness the real story. His loan from Edinburgh to Leicester Tigers reads, to me, as a player still hungry to test himself rather than coast.
