Helen Skelton

Helen Skelton represents a breed of presenter I rate highly: the ones who do things rather than just introduce them. Her path from Blue Peter — a show that famously throws its hosts into physical challenges — to Countryfile and Morning Live suggests someone trusted with both adrenaline and warmth, a rare combination. I also like that her story stays rooted: born in Carlisle, educated at the University of Cumbria, now fronting Britain's most rural-minded programming. There is no reinvention into metropolitan polish, and that authenticity is exactly why audiences keep her on their screens. In a presenting market full of interchangeable smiles, being genuinely of somewhere is a career asset.
