Hiroki Matsukata

Born into the trade, son of the jidaigeki actor Jushiro Konoe, he could have coasted. Instead: the Elan d'or Newcomer Award in 1960, then decades as a leading man in yakuza pictures and period films, plus work as a producer and director. Late in life he was a joy on television, talking about giant tuna with a boy's grin. He died in 2017.
