James Bay

James Bay is one of those artists I trust the moment a guitar and a real voice carry a song, and Chaos and the Calm proved he had both. Hitting number one in the UK with a debut, and winning the Brit Critics' Choice before that album even dropped, signals a craftsman rather than a trend chaser. What I admire most is restraint, the way Hold Back the River builds without shouting. To me he feels like a songwriter built for the long haul, the kind whose records age well rather than flaring out with a season.
