My Take
Jamie Demetriou is the kind of comic talent I root for, because he builds his own jokes from the ground up. Beyond his memorable turn as Bus Rodent in Fleabag, he created, wrote and starred in Stath Lets Flats, sweeping Best Male Actor, Best Writer and Best Scripted Comedy at the 2020 BAFTAs. That triple win signals the real thing: a performer who is also a genuine architect of comedy. A Bristol graduate born in 1987, he even pops up in blockbusters like Barbie, showing real range. Writers who can engineer their own laughs tend to last, and I expect he will.
