My Take

I have a soft spot for players like Javon Hargrave, who climbed the hard way. Out of Salisbury, North Carolina, through North Rowan High and a smaller program at South Carolina State, he was a third-round pick rather than a polished blue-chipper. Nose tackle is a thankless, grinding job, and at 185 cm he wins on technique and leverage as much as size. Moving from the Steelers to the Packers, he is the kind of player who anchors a defense without seeking the spotlight. To me, that unglamorous, self-made path is the truest measure of toughness in football.
