My Take
Gaffigan is, to me, one of the most underrated craftsmen in modern stand-up. Anyone can get a laugh with shock; doing it clean, riffing on food, fatherhood and his own laziness while keeping a packed room with him, is far harder than it looks. I read his Purdue background into that precise, observational eye. He works in a lane most comics avoid because it offers no shortcuts, and that self-imposed discipline is exactly why I think his material ages well. As an actor, writer and producer too, he strikes me as a durable journeyman rather than a flash in the pan.
