My Take

Jim Harbaugh is the rare figure who reached the top twice, first as a player, then as a coach. A 191 cm quarterback out of Michigan who won the 1986 Silver Football, he's spent a lifetime fully soaked in football, and now leads the Chargers. What I admire is the credibility that comes from having actually done it; players sense when a coach has lived their grind. He strikes me as the stubbornly straightforward kind of competitor, almost too earnest, whose intensity rubs off on everyone around him. That blend of authenticity and fire is exactly why I respect him.
