Joan Severance

What I find compelling about Joan Severance is the rare arc from high-fashion modeling into a real acting career. Plenty of models try the jump and stall, but she built a body of work across film and television from the late eighties onward. There is a certain composure I associate with her, a stillness that the camera rewards. I tend to admire performers who lead with presence rather than noise, and she strikes me as exactly that kind of figure. From See No Evil, Hear No Evil to Black Scorpion, her trajectory reads as someone who quietly trusted her own poise and made it carry her.
