My Take
Joey Belladonna is, to me, one of metal's most distinctive voices precisely because he sings rather than merely shouts. Fronting Anthrax with that soaring tenor gave the band a melodic edge its thrash peers often lacked, and six Grammy nominations confirm it was no accident. What I admire most is the unguarded energy he brings to the stage, plus the fact that he still drums and sings in cover bands for the sheer love of it. That is a lifer, not a brand. Decades on from Oswego, he remains gloriously, unapologetically committed to the music.
