Joey Jones

Joey Jones is the kind of footballer I instinctively respect more than the headline-chasers. A Welsh full-back who lifted two European Cups with Liverpool, yet kept returning to Wrexham across three separate spells and stayed in its coaching set-up for years. That loyalty to Wrexham, that willingness to come home again and again, says more about character than any trophy haul. Full-backs rarely get poems written about them, but their grit is the spine of any team. His passing in 2025 closed a career defined less by glamour than by sweat, devotion, and an unmistakable sense of belonging.
