My Take

What I admire most about Jared Sullinger is the arc of his career. A national freshman of the year out of Ohio State and a 2012 first-round Celtics pick, he carried real expectation early on. But the part that earns my respect is what came after the NBA chapter: suiting up for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China, proving that a hooper's value isn't bound to one league. At 206 cm he is built to bang in the paint and clean the glass, the kind of unglamorous work that wins games. I have a soft spot for players who keep finding a court to dominate rather than waiting for permission to matter.
