My Take

Jonathan Davis, to me, is the raw nerve of nu metal. As Korn's frontman he gave a whole generation a voice for pain, rage and isolation, and that guttural delivery still raises the hair on my arms. What I value most is his refusal to prettify himself - the bagpipes, the distinctive stage persona, the willingness to expose his own darkness rather than chase trends. Korn is rightly called a pioneer, but pioneers are only as good as their honesty, and Davis has always sounded brutally honest. He is a genuine artist who turned private wounds into something a stadium could scream back.
