My Take
Julie Plec is, in my view, one of the defining showrunners of modern genre television. Co-creating The Vampire Diaries and shepherding The Originals and Legacies, she sustained a single emotional universe for well over a decade, which is no small feat. What impresses me is her instinct for what young audiences crave: romance, danger, and destiny rendered with real feeling. She writes, directs, and produces, a genuine multi-hyphenate who clearly trusts story above trend. Whatever one thinks of supernatural soap operas, the loyalty her worlds command is proof of a craftsperson who knows exactly how to make viewers care.
