Juliette Lewis

Juliette Lewis fascinates me because she treats acting like a contact sport. Where most performers sand down their edges for the camera, she sharpens hers; that jittery, unpredictable energy made her the definitive face of 1990s indie darkness, and it still crackles decades later. I respect that she never chased respectability, she chased intensity, whether in arthouse films or fronting a rock band with total commitment. There is no ironic distance in anything she does, which is rarer than talent. For me she belongs to a small club of performers who feel genuinely dangerous in the best way, and I will watch her in anything.
