Junya Ikeda

I'll always picture Junya Ikeda as Gai Ikari, Gokai Silver, the extra pirate who joined Gokaiger from episode 17, all swagger and grin. There's a particular kind of confidence you only get from joining a Super Sentai cast at eighteen, and he clearly soaked it up. What I love, though, is that he didn't park there. The Osaka kid kept stretching into voice work, then circled around to writing and building his own stage stuff, which tells me the spotlight was never the whole point for him; the craft was. People who can shine out front and quietly construct the thing from behind tend to age well in this business. That run ended in October 2023, when he was arrested and his agency terminated his contract.
