K. J. Choi

K. J. Choi is one of those athletes I respect on principle. Coming out of a rice-farming family in Wando County, South Jeolla, he won eight times on the PGA Tour and over thirty titles worldwide at a time when Asian players were still proving they belonged at golf's summit. His 2011 Players Championship victory stands out, but it's his quiet, workmanlike consistency that I admire most. Reportedly a former weightlifter, he carried that physical strength into a famously disciplined game. Still competing on the senior circuit, Choi represents the unflashy, relentless craftsman, and that's a kind of greatness I never tire of.
