Kana Asumi

Kana Asumi has one of those voices I'd recognize anywhere, a bright, bubbly, slightly mischievous tone that just makes a scene feel warmer the second she shows up. There's a real range there too, since she can pivot from goofy comic relief to something genuinely tender without it feeling like a stretch, which is harder than it looks. I love that she's a Fukuoka kid who built this career the slow, honest way and racked up Seiyu Awards (Best New Actress, then Best Lead Actress) without ever seeming to coast on it. She sings too, which fits, because everything about her work feels musical and full of energy. From Yuno in Hidamari Sketch to Nyaruko, whenever that voice pops up I just grin and think, oh, it's her.
