Kayoko Yoshizawa

Kayoko Yoshizawa is a singer-songwriter from Kawaguchi, Saitama, born in 1990. What draws me to artists in her position is the sheer weight of doing all three jobs at once — writing the words, writing the music, and then being the voice that has to sell both. There is nowhere to hide in that arrangement. If the lyric is thin, everyone hears it, because you also chose the melody carrying it. Japanese singer-songwriters in this lane tend to build small, closely observed worlds rather than stadium anthems, and that is a harder commercial road but a more durable artistic one. A song that only a few thousand people need tends to outlive a song that a million people merely tolerate. She grew up in Kawaguchi's casting-foundry district, where her family ran a mold factory, spent five years out of school from fifth grade reading novels in the library, and has recorded for Nippon Crown and, since 2020, Victor Entertainment. The shape of the career is clear: a writer first, a performer second, and someone who has kept an official site and her own channels running on her own terms.
