Kodi Smit-McPhee

Kodi Smit-McPhee is one of those rare child actors who matured into something even more interesting. I first noticed him in the quiet menace of Let Me In, and his Golden Globe-winning turn in The Power of the Dog confirmed what I suspected all along: he carries a still, coiled intensity that pulls focus without ever raising his voice. What I admire most is his range across mediums, sliding from haunting live-action drama to voicing Norman in ParaNorman with equal conviction. He never seems to chase the obvious leading-man path, and that restlessness makes me curious about every choice he makes next.
