Kota Akiyama

He came up through Tokai University, which in Japanese basketball circles is serious business; that program has churned out pros for decades, so making it through there isn't a footnote, it's a credential. He described himself as a player who contributes through defense and rebounding even on nights when his shot isn't falling — no noise, just work. After stops in Kanazawa, Yokohama, Kyoto and Tachikawa he retired in 2025 and moved straight into coaching, which fits that locked-in type.
