My Take

I'll be honest, Kyle Schwarber is one of my favorite guys to watch swing a bat, because he plays baseball like he's mad at the ball. He's a thick, unapologetic power hitter out of Middletown, Ohio, and when he gets one, it's not a home run, it's a launch with its own weather pattern. I still grin thinking about him as a folk hero on those Cubs teams, and he's only doubled down on the all-or-nothing approach since, piling up home runs and earning a Silver Slugger to show it's no fluke. Will he win a defensive award? Probably not, and I don't care. I love a guy who knows exactly who he is, swings out of his shoes every night, and somehow keeps coming through. Pure entertainment.
