My Take
Lala Karmela is exactly the kind of multi-hyphenate I gravitate toward: she sings, acts, and writes her own material rather than just performing someone else's. A University of Indonesia graduate from Jakarta, she chose the artist's road over the safe one, started in the group Inersia, then struck out solo across borders, recording with Warner in the Philippines and Sony in Indonesia. That cross-market hustle signals real ambition and the rising creative confidence of Southeast Asia. Multi-talented people often spread themselves thin, but my sense is that her singing, acting, and writing all feed one cohesive voice, and that integration is what makes her impressive.
