My Take
What draws me to Lamar Johnson is how much he says with restraint. Coming up through dance on The Next Step gave him a physical literacy most young actors lack, and you can feel it in the stillness of his work. Whether as Seven in The Hate U Give or Henry in The Last of Us, he tends to play emotion inward rather than outward, trusting the camera to find it. That kind of controlled, interior acting is harder than shouting, and rarer. I think his best, most quietly devastating roles are still ahead of him, and I am genuinely curious to watch him get there.
