My Take
Leah Lewis is having exactly the kind of breakout I love to watch unfold. Her lead in The Half of It was quietly wonderful, a thoughtful coming-of-age performance that announced real depth. Then voicing Ember in Pixar's Elemental put her in front of a huge audience, and she carried that emotional, fiery character beautifully. I appreciate that she picks roles with heart rather than just chasing visibility. Her path from being adopted out of Shanghai to leading studio projects is genuinely inspiring, and I think her best, most layered work is still ahead of her.
