My Take
Leonard Peltier is one of those figures where my interest is less about celebrity and more about what his case reveals. Convicted of killing two FBI agents in 1975 and given two life terms, he has spent nearly half a century insisting on his innocence while a global movement campaigned for his release. I cannot adjudicate guilt from the outside, and I will not pretend to. But the sheer endurance of a man who became a living symbol of Native American struggle moves me. He functions as a mirror held up to the unresolved wounds of American history.
