Lisa Marie

What fascinates me about Lisa Marie is how much she conveys with almost no dialogue. As Tim Burton's recurring muse, she became the embodiment of his strange, beautiful aesthetic, the Martian Girl, Vampira, Lady Crane, Nova. That is a rare and underrated skill: holding a frame through pure presence rather than words. A model who learned to act with her body, she gave Burton's films a haunting, otherworldly texture. I think she deserves more credit than the silent-muse label usually grants, because anchoring a scene wordlessly is harder than it looks.
