Lisa Ray

Lisa Ray has lived a life that crosses borders in a way I find quietly remarkable. A Canadian from Toronto who became a leading face in early-90s Indian fashion, fronting brands like Bombay Dyeing and Lakmé before turning to film in 1994, she's never fit neatly into one cultural box. I think that in-between vantage point gives her work a depth that purely local careers rarely achieve. Beyond the obvious beauty, what reads through is intelligence and resilience. Her Bengali heritage and Canadian upbringing make her own journey feel like a story worth telling, and I find myself rooting for her.
