My Take
Lolo Ferrari is a figure I refuse to reduce to spectacle. Born Eve Valois in Clermont-Ferrand, she became famous through an extreme image and record-book entries, yet her death by suicide at thirty-seven casts everything in a far sadder light. To me her story is less about novelty than about the cruelty of an industry that builds people up for attention and rarely tends to what it costs them. I would rather meet her as a person than as a punchline, and I find myself wanting to honor her memory with simple, unsensational compassion.
