Ludacris

What impresses me most about Ludacris is the entrepreneurial spine behind the punchlines. A kid from Champaign who moved to Atlanta, started as a DJ, then built his own label before dropping a debut album is not just a rapper, he is a self-made operator. The Grammy and the Hollywood Walk of Fame star bookend a career that quietly bridged hip-hop and Hollywood with rare ease. I find his pivot into acting especially smart, never abandoning music but refusing to be boxed in by it. He reads as someone who always understood the business as well as the craft, and that combination is what earns my lasting respect.
