Maimie McCoy

Maimie McCoy is the sort of actor I quietly root for. Raised in Yorkshire and trained at London Metropolitan University, she built her career the unglamorous way, on stage and screen alike. Her Milady de Winter in The Musketeers stuck with me because playing a villainess with that much poison while keeping her elegant and credible is genuinely difficult work. As the female lead in Van der Valk she carries a series with calm authority. She is not a tabloid name but a steady, intelligent presence, and I suspect her most layered roles are still ahead of her. That shadowed beauty serves her well.
