My Take

Marc Albrighton is the sort of player I have a soft spot for: dependable, unglamorous, and genuinely loyal to the badge. Born in Tamworth in 1989, he joined Aston Villa at eight years old, which is almost storybook, and made his professional debut for them in 2009 before that loan stint at Wigan in 2013. A winger or wing-back who logged real mileage rather than chasing the spotlight, he's the kind of pro who holds a squad together. Now retired, he leaves the sort of honest, hard-yards legacy I think the game undervalues. Not every career needs to dazzle to deserve respect.
